BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Maine men's basketball program fell to the University of Vermont for the 22nd straight time on Sunday afternoon, as the Catamounts defeated the Black Bears by an 88-60 final.
Although the Black Bears improved on a season-worse 30 point effort yesterday with their second-highest point total of the year, the defense just wasn't there for Maine as Vermont posted a 58.0/50.0/87.0 shooting line on the day, the best mark in each category for a Maine opponent so far this year.
Precious Okoh did provide his share of offense, setting a career-high with 15 points along with four rebounds and two assists.
Stephane Ingo matched him with 15 points and four rebounds of his own. Freshman
Wol Maiwen saw his minutes load increase again, logging a career-high 23 minutes with eight points and three steals.
Maine falls to 2-7 overall and 2-6 within the America East after the sweep. They'll try to right the ship next weekend, when they host Binghamton in The Pit.
