Men's Ice Hockey Announces 2020 Signing Class

ORONO, Maine – Eight players have signed National Letters of Intent to join the University of Maine men's ice hockey team in the future. They are Victor Östman, Kabore Dunn, Brad Morrissey, Lynden Breen, Donovan Houle-Villeneuve, Zach Aughe, Connor Androlewicz, and Tristan Poissant.
 
Östman is a goaltender from Danderyd, Sweden. He played for the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Östman finished the 2019-20 season with a 2.34 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
 
On the incoming goaltender Coach Red Gendron was quoted, "Victor is big and athletic, but he also possesses a calm demeanor and level of poise that will serve him well here at Maine."
 
Dunn is in his first year in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The Mill Bay, British Columbia native played for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons during the 2019-20 season. Last year, he skated in 55 games while adding 10 goals and 20 assists.
 
"Kabore is an elite offensive defenseman. There are already elements of his game that can be compared favorably with former Black Bear Brady Keeper", Coach Gendron was quoted saying.
 
Morrissey played for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. During the 2019-20 season, he put up eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 30 games. The forward hails from Tignish, Prince Edward Island.
 
Head Coach Red Gendron on Morrissey, "Brad Morrisey will bring explosive speed and an outstanding shot with him when he arrives in Orono. He will no doubt add to our team's offensive production."
 
Breen, a center from Westfield, New Brunswick, played in the USHL for the Fargo Force. In his second season in the USHL, Breen tallied 18 goals and 30 assists. The New Brunswick native had a spot on the central scouting list for 2019 and in the 2019 NHL/USHL Top Prospects game.
 
"Lynden is a two way forward with exceptional hockey sense and skill." Coach Gendron continued, "He combines this with a great passion for the game and all of its competitive elements.
 
Houle-Villeneuve comes to the Black Bears from the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Houle-Villeneuve scored 31 goals and dished out 36 assists with the Bombers.
 
Coach Gendron on Houle-Villeneuve, "He is a prototypical power forward with speed, skill, and a "heaviness" to his game that has become a staple of our program."
 
Aughe played for the Aberdeen Wings in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The Clarkston, Michigan native finished the 2019-20 season with five goals and 13 assists for the Wings.
 
Coach Red Gendron said, "Zach is a versatile power forward with exceptional size and very good skating ability. He will provide a physical presence on both sides of the puck for our team."
 
Androlewicz, a goaltender from St. Louis, Missouri, played for the Sioux City Musketeers and Lincoln Stars of the USHL. Androlewicz finished the 2019-20 season with a 3.62 GAA and a .869 save percentage.
 
"Connor has size and tremendous athleticism." Coach Gendron went on to say, "He will compete for playing minutes immediately."
 
Poissant comes to the Black Bears from the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL. He had 13 goals and 25 assists with the Tomahawks.
 
Head Coach Red Gendron said, "Tristan has outstanding speed and an effortless skating stride. He uses that speed extremely well to put himself into positions where he can create offense."
