Men's hockey names 2026-27 captains

Owen Fowler will captain the Black Bears while Max Scott and Sully Scholle will serve as alternate captains.
ORONO, Maine – Owen Fowler will captain the 2026-27 Maine men's ice hockey team while Max Scott and Sully Scholle will serve as alternate captains.
Fowler, a graduate student forward, will wear the 'C' for the first time in his career. The Tewksbury, Mass. native is coming off a 2025-26 campaign in which he was named Hockey East Best Defensive Forward while also setting career highs in goals (12) and points (22). Fowler also established career bests in shots on goal (89), plus-minus (+18), power-play goals (2), game-winning goals (3) and faceoff wins (94). He recorded four multi-point games and the Black Bears went 11-2-2 when he recorded at least one point. Fowler has appeared in 72 games during his two seasons at Maine, totaling 42 points on 22 goals and 20 assists.
Scholle, a senior forward from Chaska, Minn., enters his fourth season at Maine and will serve as an alternate captain for the first time. Scholle played in all 35 games for the Black Bears in 2025-26, recording career highs in points (18), goals (7) and assists (11). He also established career bests in shots on goal (78), plus-minus (+13) and blocked shots (20). Scholle recorded six multi-point games last season and scored a pair of game-winning goals. Maine went 11-0-0 when he recorded at least one point.
Scott, a senior forward from San Jose, Calif., will serve as an alternate captain in his second season with the Black Bears. In 29 games during the 2025-26 season, Scott recorded 18 points on five goals and 13 assists, tying for second on the team in assists. He also won 316 faceoffs and posted a career-best 56.6 faceoff winning percentage. Prior to Maine, Scott spent two seasons at Brown University, where he served as captain during the 2024-25 season.
