CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- The University of Maine softball team dropped both of their opening games of the Holy Land Showdown. Game one was won by Charleston Southern, 6-0, while the College of Charleston won game number two, 8-1.
Game One -- Maine: 0 Charleston Southern: 6
The Buccaneers grabbed a run in the top of the second. Rhiana Hubbard singled and was pinch ran for by Kendall Anderson. Nina Del Rio's single was enough to score Anderson from second. After two complete, Maine trailed by one.
Ashlyn Cribb started the third inning being hit by a pitch. Meghan Gagliano pinch ran for Cribb and stole second. The next batter, Madison Koger, scored the pinch runner and advanced to second on the throw. Koger would score shortly after her single as Dominique Mannerino ripped a single to left field. After the top of the third, Charleston Southern had a 3-0 lead.
The Buccaneers added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning.
Caitlyn Fallon was called upon by the Black Bears. The freshman battled her way out of a bases loaded jam but did allow two earned runs. CSU got one more run in the top of the seventh. The 6-0 advantage stood as the Bucs took the non-conference match-up.

Caitlyn Fallon (0-2) went 3.0 innings, struck out one, and allowed one three earned runs.
Kyleigh O'Donnell went the rest of the way and also allowed three earned while striking out two.
Game Two -- Maine: 1 College of Charleston: 8
The Camels quickly loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning. Brittany Vicary crossed the plate on a fielder's choice, while Noel Dominguez scored a run on Gracyn Thrasher's single. At the end of one inning, Maine trailed 2-0.
The College of Charleston added another run in the third after Maine committed their first error of the game. Lexee Emanuel scored the Camels' third run of the ballgame.
Amanda MacBurnie recorded an RBI for the Black Bears in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, the sophomore pushed
Daisy Ella Johnson across the plate with a fielder's choice. Maine trailed by only two runs after their half of the fourth.
Vicary scored another run for the Camels, this time in the fourth. A throwing error allowed her to step on home.
Charleston added to their lead in fifth inning in four runs, two came by the way of errors. It would also be the final score, as the Camels held onto the 8-1 advantage for their second win of the day.
