Orono, Maine -- A total of 58 gifts were made during the 2020 Women's Basketball Era-by-Era Homecoming Challenge, with the 2000-09 decade coming out on top of the challenge with a total of 15 donors from their era.

"I cannot express the sense of pride I feel being a Maine Women's Basketball alum," said head coach, Amy Vachon. "For 50 alums and eight outside donors to step up and give back to the program that means so much to them, it is amazing! In our program, we talk every day about being grateful for the opportunities we have. If this act of generosity doesn't epitomize gratefulness, I am not sure what does! Thank you Alumns!"

Coach Vachon and the women's basketball program issued a challenge to start Homecoming Week. The challenge was made to see which decade of alumnae could have the highest number of gifts made during the week. Several alumnae participated, with the 2000-09 taking first place honors with 15 gifts. The 2000-09 decade was followed closely by 2010-present with 14 gifts. In all, the Black Bears raised $8,420 with 49 alumnae and eight outside donors participating.

Eight classes (1986, 1993, 1995, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2011, and 2015) had 100 percent participation in the challenge.
