Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Strong second half propels UMBC past Maine

BALTIMORE, Md. - The University of Maine men's basketball team fell on the road on Saturday afternoon, as the UMBC Retrievers shot 7-13 from three in the second half to pull away from the Black Bears and take the 63-53 victory.

MAINE GAME NOTES
  • Andrew Fleming was the lone Black Bear to reach double-digits, pouring in 18 points on 6-11 shooting, alongside five rebounds and a pair of steals.
  • Just three players on Maine recorded a field goal in the second half, while Fleming had four makes from the field on his own in the final stanza.
  • Maine's defensive pressure waned in the second half as well, as evidenced by UMBC's shooting line. A  30.8/33.3/77.9 first half turned into a 45.5/53.8/80.0 second for the Retrievers, highlighted by the seven made threes.
  • UMBC now runs their win streak over Maine up to 11 straight.
UP NEXT
  • Maine drops to 6-15 overall and 2-5 within the America East.
  • Their next tilt will take place at The Pit in Memorial Gym on the Orono Campus, a noontime matchup against Hartford this Saturday. Tickets for the special venue can be found here
