ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team was defeated by Stony Brook, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (Stony Brook 1-0): The Seawolves wasted no time grabbing the first goal of the afternoon. Alyssa Francese received a perfect feed from Paula Petri. After one touch, the forward buried her shot. The two combined to break the scoreless tie 10 minutes into the conference match-up.

Second Goal (Stony Brook 2-0): After a flurry of headers in the Maine box, Rachel Florenz used a header of her own to find the back of the net. The Seawolves held an early 2-0 lead. The two goal advantage would stand for the rest of the afternoon match.

The Black Bears applied pressure the entirety of the second half but were unable to find a goal. Maine dropped their first conference game of the season, while Stony Brook grabbed their first America East win of the season.

Shots/Keepers: Maine held a 8-to-5 in shots on goal, while Stony Brook won corner kick battle, 6-4.Â
