VESTAL, New York -- The University of Maine softball team dropped their final game of the weekend, 9-0, to Binghamton University.

Emily Reid had kept a clean hit column throughout the first four innings of the America East contest. The freshman allowed only two walks while keeping the Bearcats' bats silent.

The first and only runs of the ballgame came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Lauren Martinez narrowly cleared the right field wall for a three run homerun. It was only the second hit
Emily Reid had allowed until that point. With
Lilly Volk now in the circle, Sara Herskowitz extended the lead to six when she lined a bases clearing double to the right field wall. Makayla Alvarez delivered the final blow with a walk-off three run homerun.

With the eight run rule in place, the Binghamton Bearcats won the rubber match of the weekend series, 9-0, with a nine run 5th inning.
