WEST HARTFORD, Connecticut -- The University of Maine softball team dropped both games in this afternoon's doubleheader against Hartford. Game one was a 1-0 final, while game two finished with a score of 4-2.

Game One - - Maine : 0 Hartford: 1

Hartford scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Paige Fedak homered down the left field line. It was the only run of game number one.

The Black Bears had their best opportunity when Shanna Scriber stood on third base with one out. Unfortunately for Maine, they were unable to push the run across home plate.

Game Two -- Maine: 2 Hartford: 4

Nicolette Barranger and Danielle Rocheleau each scored for Hartford in the top of the first inning. The two runners crossed home plate with the help of errors committed by the Black Bears' infield. After their first at bat, the Hawks held a 2-0 lead.

Maine tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs.
Kya Enos, who pinch ran earlier in the inning, came around to score on an error committed by the Hartford catcher.
Laurine German drove home the other Black Bear run when she reached on a fielder's choice that allowed
Grace McGouldrick to score. After five complete, the score was tied at two.

Hartford took the lead for good in the top of the seventh inning on a Rocheleau RBI double. Lily Spencer and Madison Hilimire both reached before the two-hole hitter stepped into the box. Driving in her second and third RBI of the afternoon, Rocheleau gave her squad the 4-2 victory in game number two of the afternoon.
