LOWELL, Massachusetts -- The University of Maine softball team dropped the final game of the three game series, 8-0, to the University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks.

The scoring did not begin until the bottom of the second until the River Hawks struck for four runs. Sara Siteman recorded an RBI double before Casey Harding stepped to the plate and lined a three-run home run. UMass Lowell had a 4-0 lead after two innings.

Home runs continued for the home team when Maria Moccio hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third. Melany Sheldon added a two-out, two-run double to cap the scoring for the River Hawks. Maine trailed 8-0 after three full innings.

Unfortunately, the Black Bears were unable to mount a comeback and fell in the final game of the three game series, 8-0.
