Seniors Combine to Score 46 Points in Home Finale against Binghamton

BANGOR, Maine – Vincent Eze lead a group of four seniors with a career-high 22 points, but Binghamton recorded 19 3-pointers on 25 field goals total to earn an 83-60 win on Maine's senior day at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Eze added 11 rebounds for his third career double-double He also added a career-high four steals. Classmates Dennis Ashley (11 pts.), Ilija Stojiljkovic (9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists) and Celio Araujo (4 points) combined to score 46 points in the contest on senior day. Isaiah White neared a double-double with eight points and a season-high eight rebounds.
 
After Maine built an early 11-7 advantage, the Bearcats used a 15-0 run to take an 11-point lead at 20-11. The Black Bears cut the Bearcat edge to just four at 24-20 as seniors Stojiljkovic, Eze and Ashley scored all the points in the run.
 
Binghamton responded with back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers to retake an 11-point lead at 33-22 with 2:34 remaining in the first half. Maine countered with a 7-0 sprint to end the first half, as they entered the locker room with just a four-point deficit at 33-29. Eze already posted a double-double after 20 minutes, with 15 points (7-of-16) and 10 rebounds.
 
The Black Bears cut the deficit to just three points at 40-37, but the triples kept coming for Binghamton as the Bearcats. With Maine trailing by six points at 51-45 with 10:56 left, Binghamton would close the contest on a 32-15 run to earn the 83-60 victory.
 
J.C. Show set a Binghamton school record with 10 3-pointers, leading the team with 30 points. Caleb Stewart added 23 points for the Bearcats.
 
Maine will close the regular season with a Tuesday night Border Battle matchup against New Hampshire. The opening tip is set for 7:00 p.m. in Durham. Maine will clinch a playoff berth if UNH loses to UMBC today. If New Hampshire wins, Tuesday's winner will earn a berth in the conference tournament.
