MEMPHIS, Tennessee -- The University of Maine softball team split their doubleheader on Sunday morning on the campus of the University of Memphis. Texas Tech defeated the Black Bears, 10-0, while Maine knocked off Murray State, 6-5.

Game One: Maine - 0 Texas Tech 10

Texas Tech grabbed four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jessica Hartwell lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Karlie Hamilton. With Heaven Burton standing on third base, Trenity Edwards lined a home run over the left field fence. Breanna Russell followed the two run blast with a solo shot of her own. The Red Raiders led 4-0 after one complete.

Burton drove in a run of her own in the bottom of the second. Her single to the left side drove home Kelcy Leach. Yvonne Whaley stole home for Texas Tech's second run of the inning. Burton came around to score on a ground out to finish the Red Raiders' scoring in the second. Maine trailed 7-0 after two innings.

Taylor Satchell hit Texas Tech's third home run of the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the third and extended the lead to eight. After two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red Raiders had a 10-0 advantage.

The Black Bears were unable to mount a comeback as they were defeated by Texas Tech, 10-0.

Notes:
- Lilly Volk went the first 3.0 innings for Maine and allowed eight earned runs. Kyleigh O'Donnell pitched 1.0 inning, allowed two runs, and struck out two.
- Amanda Nee recorded Maine's only hit, while Maddie Decker reached twice on walks during the first game of the morning.

Game Two -- Maine: 6 Murray State: 5

Logan Braundmeier gave Murray State a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when she singled home Madison Culver. Braundmeier scored on the very next play when the Black Bears committed an error in the infield giving her squad a two run lead after their half of the second.

Maine tied the game in the bottom of the second when
Keely Clark crushed her first career home run.
Hailey Perry scored on the home run.

Culver singled to center in the top of the sixth inning. On the single, Lillie Gilmore scored. Culver crossed the plate on an error committed by the Black Bears' infield.

Alyssa Derrick and
Hailey Perry reached to lead of the bottom of the six inning. Derrick was pinch run for by
Kya Enos. Enos crossed home on Clark's fielder's choice, while Perry scored on a
Maddie Decker fielder's choice. The game was tied 4-4 after six complete.

Back-to-back singles and a passed ball put runners on second and third for Murray State. Gilmore crossed the plate giving her squad a one run lead after Culver grounded out to second base.

Down a run in the bottom of the 8th,
Alyssa Derrick crushed the Black Bears' second home run of the game. It was the seniors first home run of the 2019 season.

Meghan Royle led off the bottom of the ninth with a double.
Shanna Scribner pinch ran for the senior. After reaching third, Scribner scored the game winning run on a
Grace McGouldrick sacrifice fly. It was Maine's first win of the 2019 Tiger Invitational.

Notes:
- Kyleigh O'Donnell started the game for the Black Bears. She went 5.0 innings, allowed zero earned runs, and struck out one. Emily Reid (1-4) was called upon in the 6th inning. The freshman went the final 4.0 innings, allowed only one earned run, and struck out four.
- Keely Clark spearheaded the Maine offense with a two-run home run and one other RBI. Alyssa Derrick had a solo shot of her own. Grace McGouldrick tallied the game winning RBI on a sacrifice fly. Maddie Decker recorded the other Black Bear RBI.
