Orono, Maine -- Dor Saar and Anne Simon of the University of Maine women's basketball team have each been recognized by the America East with weekly awards. Saar earned the league's Co-Player of the Week accolade while Simon was honored as the conference Rookie of the Week.

Saar, who earns her first Player of the Week honor, poured in a career-high 30 points in Maine's 61-60 victory over Green Bay on Friday evening. In the win, Saar went 8-for-10 from 3-point range, matching the second most 3-point field goals made in a single game in Black Bear history. Saar, who averaged 20.0 points per game in a pair of outings over the past week, has featured double-digit scoring outings in each of her last two games after registering a team-high 10 points at Dartmouth. In the victory over Green Bay Saar, the America East active leader in total assists, recorded the 300th helper of her career.

Simon was awarded with the first Rookie of the Week accolade of her career after averaging 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games for the Black Bears, including a career-high 17 point showing in Maine's victory over Green Bay. Simon, who went 4-for-4 from the free throw line down the stretch against the Phoenix including hitting a pair of free throws to put Maine on top by one with 11.7 seconds left, has registered double-digit scoring outputs in three of her last four outings. Her four triples and nine free throws against Green Bay were both career best marks while she also matched career-highs with six rebounds against both Dartmouth and Green Bay.
