HANOVER, N.H. - The Maine field hockey team pulled off their third straight victory and their fifth win in their last six games with a 2-1 victory over Ivy League foe Dartmouth on Sunday afternoon.
Chloe Walton got the scoring started at the five minute mark in the first quarter, giving Maine a quick 1-0 lead. Dartmouth got the equalizer at the 16 minute mark, and the 1-1 tie lasted deep into the third quarter. The Black Bears would strike with barely a minute left in the quarter, as
Brianna Ricker converted the corner-insert play off an assist from
Cassandra Mascarenhas to give Maine the 2-1 lead.
MAINE GAME NOTES
- Walton's goal is her seventh of the season, as she's now scored in five straight games.
- Ricker's clutch goal was her 12th of the season, as she continues to add to her team-high 25 points on the season.
- With her fifth assist of the season, Mascarenhas leads the team and now has seven total points on the year.
- Maine outshot Dartmouth 13-8 and 7-2 on goal, with corners being dead even at five a side.
