Women's Soccer Grabs First Conference Victory with 3-1 Win Over Binghamton

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated Binghamton, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon on the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (Binghamton 1-0): Sarah Dibble scored the first goal of the game eight minutes into the America East battle. Dibble had her originally shot saved by Kira Kutzinski. The rebound bounced directly to the forward who scored on her second shot. The Bearcats led 1-0 early into the game.

Second Goal (1-1): After battling for the ball at midfield, Birte Speck turned and fired a ball to open space. Olivia Chalifoux, who stayed on-side, chased down the pass and scored her first career goal. The freshman forward tied the conference match-up at one goal apiece minutes before the half.

Third Goal (Maine 2-1): Maine earned a corner kick after Nicole Bailey had her breakaway chance saved. Emilie Andersen took the attempt. Beate Naglestad made her way through the Binghamton traffic and managed to get her head onto the incoming ball. The Oppegaard, Norway, natives gave their squad a late one goal lead.

Fourth Goal (Maine 3-1): In the final two minutes of the game, Priscilla Domingo added some insurance for the Black Bears. Julia Mahoney assisted on the goal.

The 3-1 score would stand as the Black Bears grabbed their first America East win of the 2019 season.

Shots/Keepers: Maine held a 14-to-6 in shots on goal, while Binghamton won the corner kick battle, 9-6.

Keeper Kira Kutzinski made five saves in goal, as her Bearcat counterpart, Mackenzie Hanna, tallied 11.

Next: The Black Bears will return to the field Thursday, October 17, when they travel to New Hampshire for the next chapter of the border battle. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
