NORTH ANDOVER, Mass -- The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team dropped the game on 3-1 at Merrimack College on Friday afternoon.

The Black Bears dropped the weekend series against Merrimack after a strong open to the game.

How It Happened
Â
First Goal (1-0 MC): Paige Voight opened the scoring in the first at 7:15. The teams matched in a battle in the corner, before the Warriors won the puck out, cut in towards the slot and fired in a shot through a screen to give the team a lead.

Second Goal (1-1 ME):
Lydia Murray scored her sixth of the season to tie the game. She started the breakout from the Black Bears zone, and was tied up on the breakout before firing in it in the slot for the equalizer.

Third Goal (2-1 MC): Megan Fergusson gave the Warriors the advantage they wouldn't relinquish. Fergusson deflected a rebound of Chloe Cook's high point shot for her eighth of the year.

Fourth Goal (3-1 MC): Mikayla Grant-Mentis sealed the game with an empty net goal.

Carly Jackson totaled 20 saves for the Black Bears, while Maine's offense posted 32 shots on goal.
- The Black Bears went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill in the contest, but were unable to convert on their own power play opportunities.
- Team defense was strong again for Maine, blocking 16 shots.
- Maine is 13-10-2 overall this season and 6-10-2 in Women's Hockey East play.
