ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team announced their captains for the 2018-19 season. Senior Rob Michel (Camillus, N.Y.) and junior Chase Pearson (Alpharetta, Ga.) were both named captains, while junior Mitchell Fossier (Alpharetta, Ga.) and senior Keith Muehlbauer (Apple Valley, Minn.) were tabbed alternate captains.
Fossier and Pearson led UMaine during the 2017-18 season with 34 and 27 points, respectively. Fossier tallied 12 goals and 22 assists, which both led the team. Pearson ended the 2017-18 campaign with seven goal and 20 assists. Muehlbauer and Michel return as two of the top defenseman. Muehlbauer recorded 55 blocked shots for his squad as a junior, and Michel finished the previous season with 17 total points and 37 blocked shots.
The Black Bears start their 2018-19 season with an exhibition game at home in the Alfond Arena against the University of Prince Edward Island on October 8th at 6:00 PM.
