BOSTON – With 24 schools participating at the 2018 NEICAA Indoor Championships, the Maine men's track and field team placed ninth, earning 23 total points at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center.
Maine's highlight of meet came in the 1 mile run, when
Jacob Johns earned a first place finish in the 1-mile run, crossing the finish line in a season-best time of 4:07.04 to earn Maine 10 points.
John Hassett took sixth in the event, registering a time of 4:11.40.
Aaron Willingham earned a third-place finish in the 3000m run, with a personal-best time of 8:29.83. The time earned the Black Bears six points towards its team score.
In the 4x800 relay, the Black Bear squad of
Cooper Nelson, Hassett, Johns, and
Ethan Orach placed seventh, with a time of 7:53.59.
Jacob Terry ran a time of 15:28.18 in the 5000m run, which was good enough for 12
th place in the field of 20 runners.
In the field events,
Elijah White finished in the 11
th in the long jump (6.86m), while
Troy Davis took 18
th (6.60m). Thomas Murray hurled a throw of 14.48m in the shot put.
In the heptathlon,
Garrett Johnson (4551 points) and
Camden Cleathero (4352 points) took seventh, and eighth, respectively.
Mozai Nelson,
Benjamin Davis,
Colton Santoro,
Alecsander Wortman, and
Adam Lufkin also competed.
Northeastern won the event with 164 points, followed by UConn (162.33), and Rhode Island (113).
Next Saturday, Maine will be split between a home dual meet against New Hampshire, and the David Hemery Valentine, hosted by Boston University.
