BOSTON/ORONO, Maine – The Maine Black Bears men and women's track and field team hosted its lone home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon at New Balance Field House. The men defeated New Hampshire and Husson by tallying 114 points. New Hampshire totaled 112 points, while Husson earned 53 points on the day.

In the field events,
Troy Davis won both the long jump (6.71m) and the high jump (1.95m).
Seth White (6.27m) and
Devin Burgess (6.26m) followed Davis in the long jump in second and third, while
Dylan Smith (6.15m) took fifth.

Adam Lufkin (15.38m) and
Scott Murray (14.84m) came in first and second in the shot put to add 12 points to the Black Bears score. The toss by Lufkin was a new personal best. Murray was also the runner up in the weight throw (14.33m), with Lufkin following in fourth place (12.90m) in the event.
James Benson finished second in the triple jump, to round out the top finishers in the field events (12.27m).

On the track,
Mozai Nelson (7.01),
Benjamin Davis (7.05), and
Andrew Smith (7.26) took the top three spots in the 60m dash. Davis earned first place in the 200m dash (22.88), while Garret Johnson (22.92) took runner-up honors.
Seth White (23.65), and
Dylan Smith (23.69) grabbed the fifth and sixth spots.

In the 60m hurdles,
Colton Santoro recorded a time of 8.73 for first place, while Eric Fay-Wolf (8.80) took fourth.

Ethan Orach rounded out the individuals winners for Maine, with the freshman taking first in the 800m run, registering a time of 1:59.45.
Tucker Corbett also competed in the event, earning third place mar of 2:02.46.

Maine grabbed first in the 4x400 relay, with the group of
Andrew Clement,
Garrett Johnson, Nelson and
Michael O'Clair besting the Wildcat relay team by nearly 28 seconds with a time of 3:28.68.

Other top runners were
Branden Kuusela placing second in the 500m run (1:08.50), and
Logan Moses taking fifth in the 1 mile run (4:35.17)

Four Black Bears also competed at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday. Among 360 competitiors in the 1 mile run,
Jacob Johns placed 21
st (4:05.57), while
John Hassett took 43
rd (4:09.02). In the 5000m, there were 112 runners, with
Aaron Willingham finishing 38
th (14:53.66), and
Jacob Terry took 74
th (15:32.79).

The men's and women's teams are back in action for the America East Indoor Championships on the weekend of Feb. 23 in Boston.
