RALEIGH, N.C. - The University of Maine women's basketball team dropped to 7-3 on the year following an 84-46 loss at No. 10 North Carolina State on Saturday evening.

Kelly Fogarty paced Maine's scoring with 13 points.
Parise Rossignol added 10 while
Blanca Millan,
Tanesha Sutton, and
Maeve Carroll all finished with six points.

North Carolina State, who entered the game ranked #10 in the nation, limited Maine to a 17-for-63 night from the field, including a 10-for-41 mark from three-point range. The Wolfpack controlled action inside, out-rebounding Maine 50-26 while outscoring the Black Bears 40-2 in the paint.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game and never looked back.
Maeve Carroll scored the Black Bears' first points of the contest. N.C. State finished the first quarter with a 13 point lead, 20-7.

The two squads traded three-pointers to open the second quarter. Sutton knocked down the deep three for the Black Bears. The Wolfpack took control of the second soon after the back-to-back treys as they outscored Maine 30-10 in the frame.

After the break, NC State picked up where they left off. The home team went on a 15-3 in the opening minutes of the second half. Even though the Black Bears were outscored in the third quarter, they tallied four made three-pointers to the Wolfpack's two.

Maine continued to fight as Fogarty came off the bench to chip in seven fourth quarter points and help her team win the quarter, 13-7. The Black Bears were unable to close the gap down in the fourth, falling to the Wolfpack by a final of 84-46.

The Black Bears continue road action next Saturday when they travel to Northeastern. Maine will take on the Huskies on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 12:00 pm.
