Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Ice Hockey Falls To UMass Lowell, 1-0

ORONO, Maine-- University of Maine Black Bears men's hockey fell in a close 1-0 contest against the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Saturday night.

First Goal: UMass rushed in on a 3-on-2 from their own blueline down. Charlie Levesque sent a short pass to Connor Sodergren. Sodergren, the nearside wing, cut across the slot and fired the shot as Sam Knoblauch crashed in on net, as the puck creeped through between Swayman's pads.

Jeremy Swayman:
-Turned away 44 of 45 shots.
-This is the third time this season Swayman has turned away more than 40 shots in a contest. The sophomore made 46 saves against Minnesota-Duluth on Oct. 19 before turning away 44 saves against UMD the next night.
-Swayman earned tonight's first star honors for his stellar saves on the night.

Notes:
-The Black Bears penalty kill was the star of the night, shutting down all five of the River Hawks power play opportunities.
-Maine is now 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in Hockey East.
-UMass Lowell improved to 4-4-0 overall, and 1-2-0 in Hockey East.

Next: The Black Bears return to the ice next Friday to kick off a two game series at Boston University. Puck drop for Friday's game is at 7:30 pm and 7 pm for Saturday.
