Men's Hockey Drops Back and Forth Game at BU, 3-2

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the Boston University Terriers, 3-2, on Friday night at the Agganis Arena. Three BU power play goals proved to be the difference.

First goal (1-0 Maine): Eduards Tralmaks gave the Black Bears a 1-0 lead with 5:28 left in the first period. Tralmaks gathered the puck in front of the BU net, made a definitive move to clear space, and wired the puck into the upper 90 above the goaltender's stick. The goal was his first of the 2018-19 season and gave his squad a 1-0 lead that would last the entirety of the period.

Second goal (1-1): Boston University evened the score with a power play goal from Bobo Carpenter with 2:43 left in the second period. Dante Fabbro and Chad Krys set up the play for their line mate. The Terriers benefited from a 5-on-4 man advantage and tied the game at one goal apiece.

Third goal (2-1 Boston University): Joel Farabee gave his team a 2-1 lead with a power play goal of his own with 1:02 left in the second period. The Terriers wasted little time on the man advantage as they found the back of net for their second power play goal of the frame.

Fourth goal (2-2): Tim Doherty scored a power play goal with 5:51 left in the third period. The forward gained possession of the puck and forced it into the net. The tally that tied the game was assisted by Chase Pearson and Brady Keeper. Pearson found Doherty, who was left unmarked in front of the BU net.

Fifth goal (3-2 Boston University): The Terriers scored their third power play of the evening, as the goal was the game winner. David Farrance fired a shot from just inside the blue line that found its way through traffic and into the back of the net. Patrick Harper and Jake Wise were credited with assists on BU's third goal. Maine was unable to answer as the Terriers would win game one of the series 3-2.

Notes:
- Jeremy Swayman finished the game with 39 total saves.
- Maine went 1-5 on the power play, as BU went 3-6.
- The Black Bears blocked seven total shots.

Next: The Black Bears will stay in Boston, Mass. to take on the Boston University Terriers tomorrow, Saturday, November 17 for game two of the series. Puck drop for the Hockey East contest is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
