BOSTON – The No. 10 Maine Black Bears fought with balanced attack for a 2-1 road victory over Boston University Saturday evening.

The Black Bears earned their first Hockey East victory of the season behind a stellar effort by
Loryn Porter in goal, earning her third win of the season.

MAINE GAME NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS
- Maine's offense fired 30 shots on goal.
- Porter, the game's first star, had her shutout streak broken at 178 minutes and 32 seconds.
- BU's only goal of the game came with less than two minutes left in the game, and was the only shot of 23 Porter did not stop.
- The Black Bears penalty kill was 5-for-5 and power play was 0-for-4. Â
- Maine led in shots on goal in the first and third period, putting 11 shots on goal in the first and eight in the third. Both teams posted 11 shots on in the second.
- The victory is the first in conference play, bumping Maine to 1-1-0 in Hockey East and 5-1-0 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st period, 10:52 | Vendula Pribylova screened on the play, and keeping her stick on the ice, deflected Taylor Leech's shot from the point. Liga Miljone got the secondary assist for her eighth point of the season.
- 1st period, 12:52 | Daria Tereshkina cut across the slot to catch BU goalie Corinne Schroeder off balance. Assists on the play went to Michelle Weis and Taylor Leech.
- 3rd period , 18:32 | Abby Cook fired a shot from the point, getting the long range hit to come through traffic in front.

- The Black Bears head home to Alfond, hosting rival UNH Friday, Oct. 26 with puck drop at 6 p.m. No. 6 Boston College heads to Orono on Sunday, Oct. 28 with the game starting at 2 p.m.
