Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blank UMass Lowell, 1-0

LOWELL, Massachusetts - Led by Mikayla Morin's first half goal, the University of Maine women's soccer team traveled to and defeated the University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks, 1-0, on an extremely rainy Thursday evening.

Mikayla Morin, the lone senior on the team, scored the Black Bears' only goal of the first half. The scoring opportunity was in thanks to a corner kick award by a ball kicked out-of-bounce by the River Hawks' defense. Emilie Andersen took advantage of the corner kick and found Morin in front of the net. The two connected and gave their squad a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

The senior defender's goal ended up being the only and gaming winning goal. Annalena Kriebisch played a perfect game. On multiple occasions, the junior netminder cleared the box during corner kicks. She also covered many loose balls in front of the net.

The Black Bear defense limited the River Hawks scoring chances. Even on the set pieces, UMaine showed very few weak spots. Kriebisch and her defense held onto the 1-0 lead and gave the Black Bears a hard fought road, conference victory.

Shots/Keepers
The River Hawks held an 5-to-4 advantage in shots on goal, while the Black Bears won the corner kick battle, 4-3.

Keeper Kriebisch made four saves in goal for UMaine, while her UMass Lowell counterpart, Lauren Huff, also made four.
