HANOVER, N.H. – Competing against Brown, Vermont and meet host Dartmouth, the UMaine men's track and field team took second place with 128 total points on Saturday afternoon at Leverone Field House. The meet marked Maine's first meet of 2018.

Several Black Bears won their events, including
Troy Davis, who established a new personal best in the high jump, clearing 2.04 meters. The jump is tied for fifth best in program history. The sophomore also earned a second place finish in the long jump, tallying a 6.64 meter leap.

Aaron Willingham took first in the 3000-meter run, finishing with a time of 8:43.10 to earn nine points towards the Black Bears' score.
Jacob Terry took third in the event, with a time of 8:52.98 to add six more points to Maine.

In the mile,
Jacob Johns grabbed the top finish on the day, recording a time of 4:12.83, while
John Hassett followed just over two seconds later at the 4:14.88 mark to give Maine 16 points in the event alone.

The 800-meter run was decided by just two tenths of a second, but
Cooper Nelson tallied a time of 1:58.41, which bested the second place Catamount runner.

Other top performances include
Devin Burgess in the pole vault, as the senior vaulted 4.25 meters to give the Black Bears seven points. Freshman
Elijah White took second in the triple jump (13.39m) and fourth in the long jump (6.48m).

Garrett Johnson ran the 400-meter dash in 50.52, while
Adam Lufkin hurled 13.37m in the weight throw, as the two seniors combined to earn Maine 12 team points.

The Black Bears finished just two points behind Dartmouth, who won the event with 130 points. Vermont earned 103 points for third, while Brown totaled 97 points on Saturday.

The men's team is back in action next weekend, with a stop at the Joe Donahue Invitational in Boston on Saturday, and will then head to the Bates Invitational in Lewiston on Sunday.
