Providence, R.I. – A Providence goal by Allyson Parker in the 61st minute proved to be the lone goal of the contest, as No. 24 Maine fell to the Friars 1-0 on Friday afternoon at Lennon Family Field.
Emma Cochran made eight stops in net to lead the Black Bear defense.
The first half featured four Friar shots and three shots from Maine. Providence finished the game with a total of 12 shots, with nine on goal. Maine added five shots in the second half, but could not convert on any of those opportunities.
Maine Game notes and Highlights
- Providence won its first game against Maine since 2013, and extended its all-time series lead to 20-14-1.
- Cochran's eight saves mark the most saves in a single game in her career since 2014. She tallied nine saves against Fairfield (10/10/14) and New Hampshire (10/31/14).
