Baseball Drops Double Header at Binghamton

The Black Bears couldn't keep up with Binghamton's offense.

VESTAL, New York - The Black Bears fell to the Binghamton Bearcats in both games of their double header on Saturday.

—

Game one started off in Binghamton's favor, scoring in the bottom of the second inning to go up early, 1-0.

Maine would answer back in the top of the fourth with RBI's from Brandon Vicens and Hernen Sardinas to take the lead 2-1; Binghamton would answer right back in the bottom of the inning with a four-run inning, two of them on a home run, to lead 5-2.

The Bearcats wouldn't look back after the fourth, as they scored three more in the sixth, and another one in the seventh to match Maine's seventh inning run, a bases-loaded walk to Tyler Schwanz.

Justin Courtney gets the loss in his start, his record now 4-4; he went 5.0 innings, allowing eight hits, five earned runs, walking three and striking out two.

—

Game two saw the Black Bears strike first in the top of the first as Tyler Schwanz put the ball in play which allowed Jeremy Pena to score on a throwing error, giving Maine a 1-0 lead after a half inning. Binghamton would respond with a three-run bottom of the first to lead 3-1.

Another Binghamton run in the second would make it 4-1, but in the top of the fifth Cody Pasic would hit a solo shot over the right field wall to cut the lead in half, 4-2.

Nick Silva came into the game in the second inning, and didn't allow an earned run through four innings; striking out five. He would keep the score close for Pasic's homer, but Binghamton was able to string together three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to lead 7-2.

John Arel gets the loss in his start, he went 1.0 innings, walking four; his record is now 1-1 on the season.
