Missoula, Mt. -- The University of Maine softball team dropped a 10-1 decision in five innings to Seattle University in the Griz Classic opener on Friday afternoon.
Rachel Carlson and
Rachel Harvey each tallied two hits to lead Maine while
Meghan Royle drove in a run with an RBI triple.
The Black Bears fell behind early as Seattle tallied two RBI singles and worked a bases load walk to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
Maine got on the board in the second on Royle's RBI triple. Harvey began the rally with a lead-off double before coming around on Royle's three-bagger to left.
The Redhawks put the game out of reach in the fourth after pushing across six runs, stretching its lead to 9-1.
Seattle's lead grew to 10-1 on Cathcart's fifth RBI of the contest.
Maine was unable to cut into the lead, dropping the Griz Classic opener 10-1 by a five-inning run rule finish.
