Baseball Swept by Miami, Loses 7-2 in Game 2

The Black Bears were held without a run for six innings.
CORAL GABLES, Florida - The Black Bears looked to bounce back against the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday night after a 4-3 loss on Tuesday, but were unable to get anything going offensively as they were held hitless until the fifth inning, as the 'Canes took game two by a score of 7-2.
Chris Murphy got his second start of the season but only saw action in 2.0 innings of work, as he walked seven, allowed one hit, two earned runs, and struck out one. He got his second loss of the season with an 0-2 record. Maine as a whole struggled with the strike zone, as they walked a total of 13 batters on the night.
Miami scored its first two runs of the game on walks in the bottom of the second, an inning that saw five walks. An RBI single for the 'Canes in the bottom of the third would make it 3-0 Miami, and they would score two more in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-0.
Maine would get their first hit of the game in the top of the fifth, a Christopher Bec single to third base, but the Maine offense couldn't produce a run in the inning. In the top of the seventh, Lou Della Fera hit a single and would steal second, and after a Danny Casals single to left field, would be hit home on an RBI ground-out by Jonathan Bennett, putting Maine on the board, 5-1 Miami.
Maine would tally another in the top of the eighth as Tyler Schwanz would single to left field, steal second, and after a Brandon Vicens ground-out, would advance to third base. Jeremy Pena would then hit a two-out RBI double to score Schwanz, making it 5-2 Miami.
Miami would add their final insurance in the bottom of the eighth as they added two runs to make it 7-2, and would go on to retire Maine in the top of the ninth, despite a Christopher Bec two-out single.
Maine saw a total of five pitchers in the game, including Eddie Emerson (2.0 IP, 0 hits, 3 walks, 3 K's), Zach Winn (2.0 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 1 walk, 1 K), Matthew Pushard (1.0 IP, 2 walks) and Connor Johnson (1.0 IP, 3 hits, 2 ER).
The Black Bears are slated to take on the UMBC Retreivers to begin conference play this weekend with a double header on Saturday and a single game on Sunday, weather permitting.
