DURHAM, New Hampshire - The Black Bears and the Wildcats faced off for the second time this season with UNH sweeping the season series with a 64-51 final over Maine.
Andrew Fleming finished with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds; he shot 5-6 from the free-throw line, 1-2 from behind the arc for his third three-pointer of the season, and 41.7% from the field overall.
Vincent Eze finished with 15 points and four rebounds, shooting 7-8 from the free throw line and 57.1% from the floor.
Danny Evans finished with 13 points and four rebounds shooting 62.5%.
Ryan Bernstein led the team in rebounds with seven total, along with three assists.
The Black Bears got out to a quick 5-2 lead with 16:15 remaining in the first off a three from
Danny Evans and two free-throws from Eze. UNH would tie the game up at 5-5 with a three-point play of their own with 16:02 on the clock. The game would be tied three times in the first seven minutes before UNH took off with the lead with two free throws with 12:11 remaining in the first; they would lead Maine by as much as four points while Maine traded baskets with the Wildcats. Vincent Eze layup, as the Wildcats led 21-19. UNH ended the half on a 14-0 run to lead 35-19 at halftime.
The Black Bears were held to just two points for the first six minutes of the second half, as UNH opened the lead to 48-21 by 14:12 remaining, their largest lead of the night. UNH's lead stayed in the 20-point range for a majority of the second half until 3:13 remaining, when Maine would go on a 10-0 run to finish out the game, starting with two
Andrew Fleming free throws, followed up by an Evans three-pointer, Fleming's three-pointer, and finally a layup by Fleming with 32 seconds remaining. UNH won by a final score of 64-51.
