Yuri Nascimento enters his first season as an assistant coach at Maine with the 2024 season.
Nascimento comes to Orono after spending the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach of men's and women's soccer at Colby College and has been the goalkeeper director at The Pitch in Warren, Maine since 2016. At both Colby and The Pitch, Nascimento oversaw the training of goalkeepers through the planning of on-field sessions, evaluations, film sessions while helping them develop technically, tactically and mentally. Additionally, the Sao Paulo, Brazil, native served as the head coach of DSA United, guiding the team to six state championships in the Maine Premier League (2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023).
Nascimento played collegiately at Eastern New Mexico University and Ottawa University in Arizona. In his two years at Ottawa, he started 32 games in goal and served as a team captain while helping the team to two NAIA DI Men's Soccer National Tournament semifinal appearances. In his four seasons of collegiate soccer, Nascimento earned two All-American awards, two All-Conference nods and two All-Region spots.

Nascimento played youth soccer for professional clubs Cruzeiro and Sao Caetano in his native Brazil, earning Goalkeeper of the Year and Perseverance Award. In 2018, Nascimento was called up to play for the indoor soccer Brazilian National Team.
He earned an associate's degree in General Studies at Eastern New Mexico and graduated with his bachelor's in Psychology at Ottawa University while earning a 4.0 GPA and serving as the Psi Chi Vice President as a senior.
