On June 15, 2016, head women's soccer coach Scott Atherley announced the addition of assistant coach Peter McDonnell.

A native of The Republic of Ireland, McDonnell began his coaching career at the age of 16, when he ran camps for the youth soccer club of which his father and grandfather formed in 1975 in Peter's hometown of Killala in County Mayo.  In Ireland, McDonnell also coached within the F.A.I. Regional Emerging Talent Centers.

Since arriving to the US, McDonnell has served as a Coach and a Director, at various clubs across Massachusetts, New Jersey and now also serves as Director of Coaching at Seacoast United Maine North, in the Bangor/Brewer area.  Other coaching roles have included stints as Boy’s Head Varsity Coach at John Bapst MHS and Assistant Men’s Coach at Husson University.
 
McDonnell, who holds his UEFA A Coaching License from The Football Association of Ireland, will embark on a Masters of Kinesiology and Physical Education at The University of Maine, beginning September 2019.
