Biography

IN 2014: Sat out the season as a medical redshirt. 

IN 2013: Played in all 19 games for the BlackBears, making 13 starts... Scored the game-winning goal inMaine’s 2-1 win over UMBC (9/29).

In 2012: Saw action in nine games,starting in one for the Black Bears… Her first career startfor Maine came in a 1-0 win against South Carolina State…Abrahams registered two goals for the Black Bears in her rookieseason… Netted the lone goal for Maine in a 5-1 loss atStony Brook (10/11)… Her second goal came in a 3-3 tieagainst Albany (10/18).

Before Maine: Member of the Ontario ProvincialSoccer team from 2008-2010… Represented Team Ontario at the2009 Canadian All-Stars… As a member of the Oakville SoccerClub for the past 14 years, Abrahams has lead her team to win boththe Provincial Club Championships and the Ontario QuebecCup… OYSL Champions in 2008… Won the South RegionLeague Cup in 2007... Voted High School Most PromisingAthlete… Participated in 5 sports; Soccer, Volleyball,Basketball, Field Hockey, and CrossCountry. 

Personal: Born January 19th,1994… Full name is Alexandra Stefanie Abrahams…Daughter of Stephen Abrahams and Karen Woods… Sister toJessee (16) and Declan (5)… As a Journalism Major,Alex’s career ambition is to be a literary or sportswriter.

Alex on UMaine: “When I was selecting myfuture university I was looking for the whole package.  Thefirst thing that intrigued me when I visited UMaine was thebeautiful campus and surrounding area.  The people wereanother very appealing factor, I immediately felt at home thanks toeveryone’s warm welcome.  The quality of play and thelevel of coaching make this whole experience exciting!  Theattention paid to every single student and the success of thegraduates only further convinced me that the University of Mainewas the place for me!”

Coach Atherley on Alex: “Alex isversatile, and conscientious.  She can play centrally at theback, or in midfield.  Regardless of her position, sheperforms her role, and plays within herself, consistently. Defensively, she is tenacious.  With the ball, she makes sounddecisions under pressure”.
