Orla Curran

Orla joined the University of Maine staff in February 2019 from Ireland. She graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Rehabilitation and Athletics Therapy from the Institute of Technology Carlow and earned her Masters of Science in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of South Wales in 2019. She completed a semester long internship at UMaine in Spring 2016 where she worked with Football and other Olympic Sports. Orla started teaching in the UMaine KPE Department with the Athletic Training Education Program in Fall 2020.

Prior to UMaine, Orla worked in private practice in Ireland primarily in the corporate setting - with recreational athletes and marathon runners. She is a double board certified Athletic Therapist (CAT)/Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the International Arrangement for Athletic Training and Therapy Profession. Curran is only one of a handful of Irish Athletic Therapists to sit and pass the BOC exam. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland (ARTI) and the Maine Athletic Trainers Association (MATA).
