David Kinnoin was added to the UMaine softball staff as an assistant coach in June of 2023.
Kinnoin, a 2001 graduate of the University of Jamestown, joined Fitzpatrick's staff with over 20 years of experience. A three-year member of the Arizona Cardinals MLB Scout League, Kinnoin comes to Orono following a very successful stint as the head coach of the Paradise Honors High School team in Surprise, Ariz. From 2020-23, he coached his team to a 72-8 record, which included two region titles and trips to the state semifinals in 2021 and 2022. His team was ranked in the top-five in Arizona all three years he served as the head coach.
Kinnoin served 11 years as they Head Coach/Co-Founder of the Arizona Sidewinders, a competitive fast-pitch softball program in Surprise, Ariz. for girls 18 and younger. As the head coach of the program, he compiled a career record of 571-278. In the 2021-22 season alone, 20 of his athletes signed to go play collegiate softball, seven of which went to the Division I level. In 2018, his team was selected to participate in the Junior Olympic Cup and in 2017 the team captured the 2017 USA Preps National Championship.
Before transitioning to softball, Kinnoin served as the head baseball coach for North Pointe in Glendale, Ariz. from 2004-06. In his first season as the head coach, and only second year the program existed, he led them to the State Charter League Championship in 2004.
While at the University of Jamestown from 1996-2001, Kinnoin served as the starting third basemen for the baseball program from 1997-2001.
