Rob O'Driscoll

Rob O'Driscoll began his tenure as an assistant coach at the University of Maine in May of 2022.

O'Driscoll has been a part of rebuilding several Division I programs, including at Maine where the team's win total increased consecutively from 13 to 15 to 20 victories, a significant turnaround given the program had not surpassed nine wins in the nine seasons before his staff's arrival and only had one winning season in the preceding 18 years.

In the 2024-25 season, O'Driscoll helped guide the Black Bears to a 20-14 overall record, marking only the program's second winning season in 21 years. They also achieved a 10-6 record in the America East Conference, which was their best conference record in 15 seasons. This season also matched the most single-season wins for the program in 25 years and their first appearance in the America East Tournament Championship game in 21 seasons.

O'Driscoll has helped lead four different Division I programs a combined 17 winning seasons, 10 seasons with 20 or more wins, three regular season conference championships, five tournament conference championships, and 10 post-season tournament berths, including six NCAA Tournament appearances.

Prior to arriving at Maine, O’Driscoll was hired as an Assistant Coach at Drexel University in 2016 and later promoted to Chief of Staff in the summer of 2020. In 2020-21, O’Driscoll helped lead Drexel to the program’s first CAA Tournament Championship in program history and NCAA Tournament appearance in 25 seasons.

Prior to arriving at Drexel, O’Driscoll served as Matt Brady’s Associate Head Coach at James Madison University from 2008 to 2016. He was influential in rebuilding a Dukes’ program that had posted eight-straight losing seasons prior to the staff’s arrival. In eight seasons, O’Driscoll assisted JMU to four 21- win seasons and four post-season tournament berths, as well as the program’s first CAA Tournament Championship in almost two decades in 2012-13. Advancing to the NCAA Tournament, JMU would earn the program’s first NCAA Tournament win in 30 seasons after defeating LIU-Brooklyn in the First Four. In 2014-15, JMU would also go on to win the program’s first CAA Regular Season Championship in 15 seasons.

From 2004 to 2008, O’Driscoll was Brady’s Top Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Marist College. O’Driscoll helped rebuild a program that was 6-22 the season prior to his arrival and assisted in improving its win total in each of the first three seasons, culminating with winning the MAAC Regular Season Championship in 2006-07 as the Red Foxes finished 25-9. Marist would go on to the NIT and defeat Oklahoma State to earn the first post-season win in program history.

O'Driscoll spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Iona College under Jeff Ruland from 1998 to 2004. During that time, the Gaels won back-to-back MAAC Championships and NCAA berths in 1999-2000 and 2000-01.

O'Driscoll began his coaching career in 1994 as the Administrative Assistant for Steve Lappas at Villanova University. The Wildcats were ranked in the final top-10 rankings in back-to-back seasons, winning the 1994-95 Big East Conference Tournament Championship and earning two NCAA Tournament berths. He would then move on to Manhattan College and serve as an Assistant Coach from 1996 to 1998.

O'Driscoll has recruited and developed 65 all-conference team selections, as well as two Players of the Year, three Rookies of the Year, and three Defensive Players of the Year. He played a vital role in the development of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year and NBA draft pick Jared Jordan.

The Broomall, Pennsylvania native graduated from Villanova in 1994 with a degree in accounting before earning his MBA from the school in 1997. O’Driscoll earned three varsity letters as a member of the Villanova tennis team and was named to the Big East All-Academic Team.

O'Driscoll resides in Hermon, Maine with his family, Stephanie and Laney.
