Trevor DeLaite joins the staff for the 2026 season after spending the last 2 seasons starting DeLaite Pitching Development where he worked with youth, High School, and College pitchers.
DeLaite spent the last '24 and '25 summers Head Coaching the Bangor Babes of the GNCBL, where they won the 2024 GNCBL Championship while earning Coach of the Year Honors and making it to the Championship in 2025.
He began his coaching career at Liberty University where he was the Director of Pitching Development in '22 and '23. In 2022, the Flames earned an at-large bid to the Gainesville Regional.
Before starting his own coaching career, the 2015-16 Gatorade Maine Prep Baseball Player of the Year, began his collegiate career at UMaine and pitched for the Black Bears from 2017-20. The left-hander posted a 5-8 record with a 5.68 ERA in 44 appearances. In 2019, he led Maine with a 2.12 ERA, seven saves and a .185 opponent batting average over 34 innings. He also played in the Cape Cod League with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks during the summer of 2019.
In 2021, DeLaite joined Liberty University as a Grad Transfer. DeLaite went on to set a program record for victories in a season in his only year for the Flames, with a 12-1 record and a 2.17 ERA in 16 starts in 2021. Besides leading the ASUN Conference in wins, the left-hander led the ASUN with 107 2/3 innings pitched and was second in the conference in ERA and strikeouts with 88. He anchored a Liberty pitching staff that helped the Flames post a 41-16 record and receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Knoxville, Tenn., Regional, where they advanced to the Regional Final.
At the end of the year, DeLaite became the first pitcher in program history to be named a Finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year. DeLaite was one of five finalists for the prestigious award. In addition, he was named an All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the College Baseball Foundation. He also was the ASUN Pitcher of the Year, selected to the first-team all-conference team and named to the league’s all-tournament team.
DeLaite graduated from Maine in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and earned a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership in 2022.
In his position, DeLaite will be the Director of Pitching Development, assisting with pitching-specific growth plans, practice and training organization, analytic tracking and opponent scouting.
