Scott Heath ('15) began his coaching tenue at UMaine in 2017, left for a short time, and returned in 2019 before being promoted to associate head coach in the fall of 2023.
Heath, who played a major role in leading the Black Bears to the 2023 America East Championship, rejoined his alma mater as the pitching coach in 2017 before being promoted to recruiting coordinator and pitching coach in 2019. Under his guidance in 2023, the Black Bears' rotation featured the lowest ERA (4.49) in the America East.

Heath spent the 2019 season at Mitchell College as the associate head baseball coach, helping lead the Mariners to a new school record for wins in a single year with 34. They finished with a 34-8 record and a team ERA of 3.00, the fifth-best mark in the nation. The staff also led the nation in K/BB ratio (4.98), as well as walks allowed per nine (1.72), while producing the conference Pitcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year, four All-Conference selections, and an All-New England selection.

Heath spent the 2017 season as an assistant with the Black Bears, working primarily with the pitching staff and helped the Black Bears to 25 wins and a berth in the title round of the America East Championship. Over the summer in 2017, he also served as head coach of the Norsemen in the Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League, leading his squad to a championship in the league's inaugural season.Â
A native of Westbrook, Maine, Heath was a four-year starter as a pitcher and first baseman for the Black Bears. He appeared in 186 career games from 2011-15 and earned First Team All-Conference status in his final two seasons. As a junior in 2014, he batted a team-high .361 and was named to the All-New England First Team and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association First Team. Overall, Heath posted a career .311 batting average with well over 200 career hits.

Following his collegiate career, Heath played a year professionally with the Old Orchard Beach Surge and the Joplin Blasters in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

Before Maine, Heath played baseball at Westbrook High School under coach Mike Rutherford. He was a three-time All-State selection and was named Gatorade Player of the Year in 2011.
