Coach Marsh will be entering year four at the University of Maine as an Assistant Baseball Coach and will be handling the outfield and base running responsibilities this season.
Beginning as a camp counselor at a youth camp, Matt worked my way up from working with young travel baseball players, to high school travel players, to high school student-athletes, and into college athletics. At Maine, Marsh has handled the duties of first base coach, assisted with the hitters and infielders, coached the baserunners, developed a vast network of AAU, Junior College and high school coaches, and acted as a camp director for Team Camps, AAU Tournaments at the University, Prospect Camps, Youth Camps and Clinics and the Maine Grizzlies Program
In year two, Marsh added pitching defense and runner control to his list of responsibilities, along with handling the team's social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
In his time at Maine, the Black Bears have seen six players ink major league deals including Cody Laweryson and Nick Silva being drafted in the 2019 MLB Draft.
Coach Marsh has had experience on both sides of the recruiting process, having coached over 500 youth baseball players, of which over 150 have gone on to play college baseball. Coach Marsh made stops along the way with the Long Island Patriots, New York Nationals, Long Island Lookouts, and Long Island Prospects
He founded two programs, Longhorns Baseball Club when he was 18 years old and Motus Academy when he was 21. Motus Academy expanded from 91 players to 238 players within three years, seeing 73 college commitments and one draft pick. Coach Marsh employed 32 coaches in 2017 and over 50 coaches and instructors over three years. During his time there, Coach Marsh assisted athletes with the recruitment process, developed recruitment videos, attended college visits with the athletes, built rosters, tournament schedules, practice schedules and budgets for 16 teams, managed the website and social media account, and interviewed and hired coaches.
Matt Marsh received the Section XI League I JV Coach of the Year Award in 2017 after coaching two years at Ward Melville High School. In 2017 Ward Melville was JV League Champions and set the school record for most wins in a high school season. He managed 31 players in 2016 and 32 players in 2017 without an assistant coach, and posted aan overall high school Record 30 – 9 in two years.
Marsh graduated from Loyola University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Information Systems.
