Matt Murray enters his third year on the sports performance staff at the University of Maine.  He was promoted to the Director of Sports Performance on July 1, 2015 and is now responsible for the development of each student athlete at the University of Maine.  Coach Murray designs and implements the year round programs for Men’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Ice Hockey, Swimming & Diving, and Field Hockey. 

 

Coach Murray was an ice hockey goaltender at Endicott College in Beverly, MA from 2006-2010 and was a Super 8 runner up for his high school, Arlington Catholic (Mass).  He also worked as an ice hockey and lacrosse official during his years in college.

 

Prior to arriving at Maine, Coach Murray completed internships at Northeastern University and Merrimack College working primarily with their men’s and women’s hockey teams.  Coach Murray also worked at Dan Boothby Performance in Dedham, MA training youth to collegiate hockey players and was responsible for the daily operation and individual program design for each athlete. 

 

He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Endicott College in 2010 and is currently completing his graduate degree in physical education with a concentration in strength and conditioning at the University of Maine.  Coach Murray is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a Certified USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.  The Billerica, MA native currently resides in Bangor, ME.
