Grisdale, Barenberg earn America East weekly honors

Grisdale named Defensive Player of the Week, Barenberg named Goalkeeper of the Week.
BOSTON – University of Maine women's soccer student-athletes Olivia Grisdale and Elena Barenberg were recognized by America East on Monday, with Grisdale earning Defensive Player of the Week honors and Barenberg being named Goalkeeper of the Week.
Grisdale, a junior, played all 90 minutes on the back line in Maine's 2-0 victory over UAlbany in Sunday's America East opener. She helped anchor a Black Bear defense that held the Great Danes without a shot on goal over the final 39 minutes while defending seven corners. She made a key defensive play early in the match, deflecting a UAlbany shot with the goal open, and also recorded one shot on goal.
Barenberg made five saves to record the shutout, including four stops in the first half. The clean sheet was the third of the season for the sophomore and the second consecutive. It marks the first time a Black Bear goalkeeper has posted back-to-back shutouts since November 2024.
This marks the first career weekly honor for Grisdale while Barenberg earned one Rookie of the Week honor last season.
