Maine Athletics celebrates 10th annual Alfond Golf Classic

WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Athletics proudly celebrated the success of the 10th annual Alfond Golf Classic, held Monday at Waterville Country Club, bringing together alumni, supporters, corporate partners, staff, and friends of the Black Bears for a day dedicated to supporting the future of the student-athletes at UMaine.
"Thank you to everyone who supported this year's Alfond Golf Classic," said UMaine Vice President and Director of Athletics Jude Killy. "The annual event is a great day of positivity that connects our athletic department and student-athletes with the community, partners, donors, and fans in a meaningful way. At the same time, it provides critical resources that impact and support all student-athletes."
A milestone event, the day showcased the continued commitment of the community to Maine Athletics, with all proceeds going directly to student-athlete support. Funds raised at the Alfond Classic help provide critical support resources which contribute to the academic, athletic, and professional development of all current and future Black Bears.  Â
A special thank you to the staff at Waterville Country Club for accommodating this year's event and providing a beautiful playing surface and to our Alfond Golf Classic volunteer committee for their countless contributions over the past year.
"The Alfond Fund is UMaine's athletic fundraising program that supports the hundreds of student-athletes who compete in 17 varsity sports in the state's only NCAA Division-I programs," said Director of Athletic Development Erin Magnuson. "Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Black Bears on the course. This event would not have been possible without the dedication of the Alfond Classic volunteer committee. Thank you for your commitment and hard work over the past seven months to ensure the day was a success."
