Orono, Maine -- The America East Conference announced on Monday morning that
Juju Stevens and
Jason Krieger of the University of Maine baseball program were named the Player and Pitcher of the Week following their performances against UAlbany on the final weekend of the regular season.
Stevens, a native of Durham, N.C., was named the Player of the Week for the first time on the season as he had an OPS of 1.479 across a 4-0 week for the Black Bears. He drove in nine runs, scored eight runs, had two home runs and a double as the Black Bears beat Merrimack and then swept UAlbany for their first weekend sweep of the season.
Krieger, a native of Red Lion, PA, wrapped up his regular season by throwing a seven-inning complete game against UAlbany. He allowed just two base runners, both hits, for a single run while striking out six batters, which tied his season-high in a single game.
The Black Bears begin their America East Championship run on Wednesday, May 20 as they face off against UAlbany for the fourth-straight game. First pitch is scheduled for around 5 PM.
