Brighton, MA – The University of Maine baseball program defeated #22 Boston College for their first win against a nationally ranked opponent since 2018 on Tuesday afternoon.

Troy Carpenter got Maine on the board in the first inning on an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Nic Pepe (HBP).
Juju Stevens made it 2-0 in the first frame with a sac fly to left field, scoring
Quinn Murphy (1B).
Carpenter drove in his second run of the contest on his 11
th home run of the season, this one being a solo shot to right field.
Albert De La Rosa made his return to lineup after missing time due to injury and made an impact in just his third at bat as he hit a double to left field, scoring
Hunter St. Denis (2B).
Stevens delivered for the Black Bears in the ninth inning as he hit his 10
th home run of the season, this one being a two-run shot to left field, bringing home Carpenter (1B) on the play.
Pitching Breakdown:
Thomas Stabley went three and 2/3 in the start, allowing three runs on seven hits, two walks and striking out three.
Jack Donlin was first out of the bullpen as he went just a 1/3 of an inning, allowing a walk and a hit batter.
Erik Swenson started the fifth inning for Maine and went 2 innings, allowing no runs on one hit, two walks and four strikeouts. He struck out the side in his first inning of work, the first Maine pitcher to accomplish the feat this season.
Tommy Martin took the mound in the seventh inning and pitched a scoreless frame, allowing a hit, two walks and striking out one.
Owen Wheeler (1-4) pitched the eighth inning and allowed a run on one hit in the frame.
Sebastian Holt (4) picked up the save as he allowed no runs on a hit and a strikeout in the ninth inning.

The Black Bears (12-24) return to Orono for a three-game series against UMBC beginning on Friday, April 24. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM and it will be Greek Day at Mahaney Diamond.
