Dayton, Ohio – The University of Maine baseball program was swept by Dayton on Sunday afternoon in the weekend series.
First Pitch – 12:35 PM – 14-8 Dayton
Scoring Plays:
Albert De La Rosa and
Rex Hauser got the Black Bears on the board in the fourth inning as they hit back-to-back home runs, both of which were solo shots. The home run was De La Rosa's second of the season and third of the season for Hauser.
Juju Stevens (1B) scored on a throwing error in the fifth inning before
Troy Carpenter hit an RBI double to right field to score
Hunter St. Denis (1B). Carpenter would come into score on a groundout two batters later.
St. Denis would draw a bases loaded walk in the sixth inning to bring home
Brody Rasmussen (1B).
Maine would score their final two runs in the eighth inning on a pair of doubles by St. Denis to score
Quinn Murphy (2B) and by
Drew Reynolds to score St. Denis (2B).
Pitching Breakdown:
Rex Hauser got his first collegiate start as he allowed two runs on two hits and two strikeouts in three innings of work.
Brennan Rumpf threw the fourth inning, allowing two runs on a hit and a hit batter.
Erik Swenson (0-2) allowed three runs on a hit, a walk and a hit batter without recording an out in the fifth inning.
Tommy Martin went an inning and 2/3 as he allowed six runs on a hit, four walks and two strikeouts.
Marshall Loch threw a 1/3 of an inning, allowing a run on two hits and a walk.
Owen Wheeler and
Jack Donlin pitched the seventh and eighth inning for Maine, allowing just one hit and combining for three strikeouts.

The Black Bears (2-13) head to Nebraska to face the reigning Big 10 champions for three games beginning on Friday, March 13. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.
