ORONO, MAINE - The Maine women's ice hockey team defeated College of the Holy Cross Crusaders on Saturday at Alfond Arena, 2 to 1. Rookie
Lulu Rucinski netted both goals for the Black Bears.
After a scoreless first period,
Lulu Rucinski gave Maine the lead in second period on a breakaway assisted by
Brenna Curl. Rucinski scored again on a breakaway in the third period off a pass from
Sade Sandilands.
Holy Cross was able to score once in the third period, but Maine was able to hold off the Crusaders for the last 10 minutes for their eighth victory of the season.
Game Notes
Kiia Lahtinen started her 19th game in net for Maine, picking up her seventh win on the season. Lahtinen recorded 26 saves on 27 shots faced.
Maine outshot Holy Cross 33-27.
Lulu Rucinski led Maine with six shots on goal.
