McGarrity and Gay Set New School Records as Maine Win Invitational

Worcester, MA - The University of Maine track and field program competed in the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday April 19. The Black Bears took home 1st place with a total of 205 points.

Holy Cross Invitational Results:
1500m
Dan Knight finished 1st overall with a time of 3:56.07.
Eli Palmer finished 6th overall with a time of 4:07.72.

110m Hurdles
Andrew Munroe finished 5th overall with a time of 15.63.

400m
Miles Gay finished 1st overall with a time of 47.15. Gay sets a new school record with this performance.
Andrew Card finished 2nd overall with a time of 47.70.

100m
Cole Martin finished 3rd overall with a time of 10.77.
Nolan Feyler finished 6th overall with a time of 10.96.

800m
Kaleb Colson finished 3rd overall with a time of 1:53.44.
Matt Firlings finished 4th overall with a time of 1:54.53.

5000m
Charlie Collins finished 1st overall with a time of 14:49.01.
Ned Farrington finished 2nd overall with a time of 15:09.24.

Hammer Throw
Gavin McGarrity finished 1st overall with a distance of 60.49m (198' 5"). McGarrity sets a new program record in the Hammer Throw.
Ryker Brown finished 2nd overall with a distance of 57.60m (189').

Discus
Ryker Brown finished 1st overall with a distance of 47.96m (157' 4").
Jared Pierce finished 2nd overall with a distance of 47.81m (156' 10").

Shot Put
Ryker Brown finished 3rd overall with a distance of 15.89m (52' 1.75").  Brown now moves into the top 8 all time in the program's history.
Jared Pierce finished 4th overall with a distance of 15.12m (49' 7.25").

Javelin
Luke Patterson finished 4th overall with a distance of 45.26m (148' 6").
Ben Therriault finished 5th overall with a distance of 34.82m (114' 3").

Pole Vault
Thomas McCormack finished 1st overall with a height of 4.55m (14' 11").
Evan Russo finished 2nd overall with a height of 4.40m (14' 5.25").

Long Jump
Will Rush finished 2nd overall with a distance of 6.96m (22' 10").
Andrew Abelon finished 3rd overall with a distance of 6.90m (22' 7.75").

Triple Jump
Conor Morin finished 2nd overall with a distance of 15.06m (49' 5"). Morin now holds #3 in program history.
Will Rush finished 3rd overall with a distance of 14.35m (47' 1").

The Black Bears return to action on May 3 and May 4 for the America East Outdoor Championships.
