Charleston, SC –  The University of Maine baseball program picked up their first win of the season as they took down The Citadel, 4-2.
Black Bears Scoring Breakdown:
Chris Bear got the Black Bears on the board first as he hit his first home run as a Black Bear to left field as a no-doubt solo home run.
Maine scored three runs in the fifth inning as
Drew Reynolds brought home Bear (BB) in the fifth inning on an RBI double down the left field line before
Payton Whitehead hit a two-run home run to left field, his first of the season and as a Black Bear, scoring Reynolds (2B).
Black Bear Pitchers:
Colin Fitzgerald (1-1) shook off his rough opening day start as he returned to All-Conference form in his second start of the season as he went 5 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits, 3 walks and striking out 5.
Luc Lavigueur (S-1) took over on the mound in the top of the sixth inning. Lavigueur threw 4 innings in relief, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Â He picked up his first save of the season.

Andrew Stanley (0-1) took the loss on the mound as he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
