Maine and UNH battle to tie, Black Bears win shootout

Harrison Scott forced overtime with less than a minute to play in the third period.

ORONO, Maine – The #5 University of Maine men's hockey team and the University of New Hampshire battled to a 1-1 tie before the Black Bears earned the extra Hockey East point with a shootout victory on Friday night at Alfond Arena.

The sold-out crowd witnessed two periods of scoreless play before Conor Lovett gave UNH a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal just over three minutes into the third. Pushing for the equalizer and with the extra attacker on the ice, Harrison Scott tipped home a David Breazeale shot with 46 seconds remaining in the third frame. After a scoreless overtime, Sully Scholle and Scott converted their shootout attempts while Albin Boija stopped both UNH attempts he faced.
