Brunette's pair of goals, Sundby's OT winner lead Maine past UNH

Durham, NH - The Maine women's ice hockey team downed the University of New Hampshire on Friday in overtime, 4 to 3, at Whittemore Center Arena. Kendall Sundby's overtime goal was scored nine seconds into the overtime period to seal the win.

Senior captain Danielle Brunette led the Black Bears with two goals to open the scoring for Maine. Brunette's first goal in the first period was assisted by Lila Shea and Paige Fong. Brunett'es second goal was assisted by Sophia Johnson.

Maine pulled ahead in the back-and-forth matchup in the third period with a goal from Stephanie Jacob. Brenna Curl and Mackenzie Podewell earned assists.

Just 14 seconds left in the game, the Wildcats tied it up to push the game into overtime. It took sophomore defender all of nine seconds to score the overtime-game winning goal. Lily Fetch and Dani Brunette assisted the game winner.

UNH outshot Maine 30 to 25.
Kendall Sundby led Maine with four shots on goal.
Danielle Brunette had a career-high of three points (2g, 1a).
Maine was 0/3 on the powerplay and 3/5 on the penalty kill. 
Goaltender Kiia Lahtinen made 27 saves on 30 shots faced (.900 save %).
